First Images of Phosphorus Molecules toward a Protosolar Analog

چکیده

The chemistry of phosphorus in star- and planet-forming regions is poorly understood, despite the central role terrestrial biochemistry. We present ALMA Band 3 4 observations PO PN towards Class I protostar B1-a, representing first spatially resolved carriers a Solar-type star forming region. molecules emit from two distinct clumps, which coincide with where protostellar outflow (traced by SiO) interacts filament dense gas CCS). Thus, gas-phase seems to originate shocking interstellar clumps. Based on observed emission patterns, appear be daughter products solid carrier an intermediate volatility between ices silicate grains. Interstellar shocks may therefore play important converting semi-refractory more volatile form prior incorporation into cometary ices. Indeed, (PO+PN)/CH3OH ratio similar B1-a comet 67P, implying comparable reservoir phosphorus. PO/PN ranges ~1-8 across B1-a. northern clump exhibits lower weaker 13CH3OH than southern clump, indicating shock physics at positions. Resolved P additional sources are needed better understand what regulates such variations environments.

Progress toward a first observation of parity violation in chiral molecules by high-resolution laser spectroscopy

Parity violation (PV) effects in chiral molecules have so far never been experimentally observed. To take this challenge up, a consortium of physicists, chemists, theoreticians and spectroscopists has been established and aims at measuring PV energy differences between two enantiomers by using high-resolution laser spectroscopy. In this article, we present our common strategy to reach this goal...

Analog Signal Processing First

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois recently adopted new undergraduate curricula. The most radical change was the introduction of ECE 210, Analog Signal Processing, in place of both the sophomore-level circuit analysis course and the junior-level signals and systems course. The new course combines core material from these traditional courses, alon...

A first step toward automatic interpretation of SAR images using evidential fusion of several structure detectors

We propose a method aiming to characterize the spatial organization of the main cartographic elements of a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image and thus giving an almost automatic interpretation of the scene. Our approach is divided into three main steps which build the whole image interpretation gradually. The first step consists of applying low-level detectors taking the speckle statistics in...
